Glen Mhor Cottage is a warm and cosy cottage in the highland village of Glenelg, a coastal village overlooking the Isle of Skye. This self catering cottage is in a wonderful location for many outdoor activities and is next door to the famous Glenelg Inn. The area is one of outstanding beauty and the views of Skye can literally change minute by minute with sunsets being particularly memorable. The Glenelg shop is just across the way from the cottage and stocks groceries, drinks and papers and where a warm welcome is guaranteed.
Local activities and sights to see include:
Eilean Donan Castle (for all ages!)
The Glenelg ferry to Skye, (operates during the summer months, please check sailing dates).
The Five Sisters of Kintail, (a challenge for walkers!)
Bernera Barracks, (for a history lesson!)
Sandaig, the site of Gavin Maxwell’s ”Camusfearna”,
Sand and shingle beaches, 9 hole golf courses at Lochcarron,Gairloch and on the Isle of Skye, pony trekking, seal trips, kayaking, fishing expeditions, glass bottom boat trips and an otter hide are all in the local area. Castle Stuart is the main golf course in the area and is near to Inverness airport.
A little further away is the Loch Ness Exhibition Centre with cruises on Loch Ness, Attadale Gardens at Strathcarron and the Ben Nevis Mountain experience. A trip to Skye should include a visit to the main town Portree, the Uig Pottery and the Talisker Distillery. Also do visit Eilean Iarmain on Skye which has a distillery, a tweed shop, restaurant and picnic areas.
